Ethics & Recycling
Equal Opportunity & Ethical Employer We are an Equal Opportunity Employer with a strong commitment to upholding the value that diversity provides to our company. Applicants are considered on the basis of their qualifications and competencies, without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, marital or other status or the presence of a non-job-related medical condition or disability. We aim to run a business based on sound ethical practices. We maintain high standards of workers pay & conditions, including free beverages, healthy food and HEPA filtered air in the office. Environmental Responsibility We pay a premium to use environmentally friendly packaging. In partnership with our ethical supplier www.paperback.coop we ensure that we use recycled materials for both packaging and office supplies. Paper, envelopes, cards, doc wallets etc etc are all FSC-approved 100% recycled material. All packaging materials introduced by us into the supply chain are biodegradable - we use paper-based materials rather than bubble-wrap or PVC tape. We also actively encourage our suppliers to use biodegradable materials. All waste generated by our office and warehouse is recycled - this includes pallets, cardboard, plastic, laser cartridges, electronic equipment, furniture and food packaging. All teas and coffee is organic and/or Fair Trade. All company vehicles run on 100% Bio-Diesel in co-operation with our supplier Lockgate Nurseries - who can be found on www. biodieselfillingstations.co.uk We are working with a Carbon-offset company to go carbon-neutral by the end of the year. Recycling The chargers cannot be re-used so must be recycled as scrap steel. Extracting iron-ore requires massive environmental pollution and foreign interventions in support of (often) despotic regimes, so we urge you to recycle your used steel. You can return them to us or put them in your council recycling bins as scrap steel or drop them to a local authority recycling centre. We donate used chargers to Art Colleges and have sponsored students making use of them, for example the key-rings available on this site. If you have any ideas or uses for them please let us know. We are keen to sponsor product designers or art students or any one developing uses or products. Charity Donations We also donate funds and equipment to several charites (although none which favour animal testing) - usually after specific requests. We actively support the solvent abuse charity Re-Solv www.re-solv.org. We also support the local Cat and Rabbit Rescue Centre www.crrc.co.uk with weekly loads of strip-cut shredded paper, as well as our used laser toner cartridges. Corporate Social Responsibility We will not sell our equipment to arms manufacturing companies - despite many orders and clear commercial advantage. |
