Description:

Magic Blue needs only a few drops added to a liquid to achieve a beautiful blue colour. It is a totally natural, versatile product which is extracted from the butterfly pea flower. Use to make intense blue cocktails and drinks. You can also use it to make a 'colour-changing' liquid because it reacts to acidic liquids (lemon or lime) and will change to a purple/pink! Also make insane blue ice cubes with it!

Details:
  • Blue food and drink colouring.
  • Adds a slight sweetness.
  • Completely natural.
  • High course of antioxidants.
  • Changes colour from blue to purple/pink in presence of acids.

  • Suggested Uses:
  • Its main use is in cocktails, it can also be used as a natural blue food colouring.
  • If acidic liquids such as lemon or lime are added the colour changes from blue to purple/pink (dependant upon the amount of acidic liquid that is present or added).
  • Add Magic Blue to the water when making ice cubes and then pop them into your drink and as the ice cube melts, watch the colour change to blue or through a range of colours if acidity is present in your drink/cocktail.

  • Colour Changing Cocktails!
  • Shake gently before use.
  • Add 2ml of Magic Blue to 250ml of non acidic liquid. Then add an acidic ingredient to the liquid such as lemon or lime juice to change from blue to pink. If you do this in front of your customer as you serve the drink it is an impressive element of flair.

  • Ice Cubes:
  • Try making ice cubes using Magic Blue then add to a cocktail containing lemon juice. As the ice melts the drink will change from blue to purple and then to pink giving a great effect.

  • Food:
  • When using as a food colouring use as desired to create the shade of blue required. Remember that if acidity is present or added the colour will change to purple then to pink depending upon the amount of acidity that is present. Great for making bright blue or pink icings and cakes.

  • Indigo Chi Chi:
  • A Hawaiian cocktail similar to a Pina Colada but made with vodka instead of rum. This version is coloured with Magic Blue and is pre-bottled and chilled, ready to serve straight from the fridge.
  • 150ml Coconut Milk.
  • 50ml Vodka.
  • 45ml Sugar Syrup.
  • 100ml Pineapple Juice.
  • Special Ingredients Xanthan Gum – 0.2g.
  • Special Ingredients Magic Blue – 3ml.

  • Blend all the ingredients together well, then decant the drink into bottles and chill in the fridge until ready to serve. Serve fridge cold in the bottle with a straw.

    About Special Ingredients
Set up by food ingredients experts to focus on the growing demand from chefs for access to ingredients which until very recently had only been used by large food companies. From their factory in Derbyshire they now blend, prepare and produce a huge range of flavours and ingredients which you will now find in many of the top commercial kitchens around the world. In fact, if you saw the recent Bradley Cooper film 'Burnt', you will have noticed a lot of Special Ingredients products used in the kitchens!
