Molecular Utensils - Glass Stirring Rods

A range of glass stirring rods from Simax for use in modern and molecular gastronomy. Some of these glass stirring rods have a flattened end, which you can use as a spoon to pick up small amounts of powdered ingredients. They are ideal for mixing ingredients in our laboratory glassware - or as a stirrer in a cocktail! The rods are made from borosilicate glass which is not only much tougher than glass but can withstand boiling water temperatures. Most laboratory rods are 5mm thick but Simax make theirs 6mm thick which gives them extra strength and durability.
Borosilicate glass has a low thermal expansion coefficient and high chemical resistance, making it ideal for use in laboratories and the medical and pharmaceutical industries. All the boroscilate glass on our website is Type 3.3 borosilicate glass. Type 3.3 is named because of the coefficient of expansion for borosilicate glass is 3.3x10-6K-1 (20 - 300C).
